This is the privacy policy for The Resort Report (resort-report.com). It explains what information the site collects when you visit, why, and what happens to it. The site is run by Ben Berry, based in the United Kingdom.
If you have any questions about anything below, get in touch via the contact page.
What you can read without giving up any information
You can browse this site, read reviews, and watch embedded videos without creating an account, signing up to anything, or providing any personal information.
What information the site collects
Server logs
The hosting provider (IONOS) keeps standard server logs of every visit to the site. These logs typically contain your IP address, the page you requested, the date and time, your browser type, and the referring page. This is normal for any website on the internet and the logs are used for security, troubleshooting, and statistical purposes. They are not shared with third parties beyond what is required by law.
Contact form submissions
If you fill in the contact form on the contact page, the information you provide (your name, email address, the reason for contact, and your message) is sent to me by email and stored in the site’s database so I can read and reply.
That information is used only to respond to you. I do not add contact form submissions to a mailing list, and I do not share the information with third parties.
You can ask me to delete your submission at any time by emailing me through the contact form (mentioning the original message you want removed).
Spam protection on the contact form
The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a service that distinguishes real visitors from automated spam bots. When you load the contact page, Turnstile receives some basic information about your browser (such as type, version, and screen size) to make this judgement. It does not store cookies on your device for tracking purposes. You can read Cloudflare’s privacy notice at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Embedded YouTube videos
Most review pages on this site embed videos from YouTube. If you play one of those videos, YouTube (owned by Google) may set cookies on your device and collect information about your viewing, in line with YouTube’s own privacy practices. You can read YouTube’s privacy notice at policies.google.com/privacy.
If you do not want YouTube to receive any information about you, do not click play on the embedded videos.
Cookies set by the website itself
Analytics. This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and understand which content is being read. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies and does not collect any personal data or identifying information from visitors. It works by counting requests at the network level only. Cloudflare’s privacy policy is available at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ (link should open in a new tab).
What the site does not do
For the avoidance of doubt:
- The site does not run any advertising network or display ads.
- The site does not currently run analytics software (such as Google Analytics). If that ever changes, this page will be updated.
- The site does not sell, rent, or share any visitor information with marketers.
- The site does not have user accounts, comments, or a forum, so there is no public profile or content tied to you.
Your rights under UK GDPR
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information the site holds about you.
- Ask for that information to be corrected if it is wrong.
- Ask for it to be deleted.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk if you think your data has been mishandled.
To exercise any of these rights, get in touch through the contact page and I will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
If anything about how the site collects information changes (for example, if analytics or a newsletter is added in future), this page will be updated to reflect that.
